Surfing in Popoyo Nicaragua
Surfing in Popoyo Nicaragua is on every surfer’s shortlist. We invite you to stay with us here at NicaWaves, a beautiful and tranquil 6 acre property with quick access to Nicaragua’s undisputed best and most consistent wave, Popoyo. We have everything you need: airport transfers, restaurant, board rentals, photography, massage, boat trips, horseback riding, and surf guiding. We provide clean, air-conditioned rooms and houses as well as a dorm style sleeping area. It’s all found here on our safe and secure property in Popoyo. Our premium location offers quick access to a dense and wide variety of classic Nicaragua breaks such as: Popoyo, Outer Reef, Popoyo rivermouth, Playa Santana, Rosada, and Guasacate beachbreak. The Popoyo area is a Central American surfing powerhouse, offering options for all levels of surfers – from long, soft waves to super hollow, thumping beachbreaks to black diamond reef breaks. Additionally, this variety of surf is consistently groomed by offshore winds over 300 days a year, thanks to Lake Nicaragua. The result is an ultra consistent world-class surfing destination.
Surf Board Rentals
We have a large variety of surf boards for rent in Popoyo. If you’re considering renting a surf board in Nica, rest easy, we’ve got you covered. Our well-maintained boards offer an attractive alternative to paying outrageous airline baggage fees. Boards are available for $10/day or $50/weekly. Send us an email for more information on surfboard sizes and availability. Also available for rent are several rugged mountain bikes outfitted with carver surf racks.
Popoyo Surf Photos
Mike enjoys providing our guests with memorable surf photos to take home from Popoyo. In the morning hours, the sun rises low over the coastal hillsides, generating gorgeous lighting for photos. Combine the perfect surf with a seasoned eye behind the lens, and you’re sure to bring home a disc full of amazing images. For low-resolution samples of Mike’s work, check out his photos of Popoyo, Outer Reef, Playa Colorado, Playa Santana, and Nicaragua Secret Spots. Photo CDs are available for $25/person.
