Good News, Bad News

Good news is the waves were fun today. Luckily, that’s easy to come by down here. See the end of the post for the bad news.

Rancho Santana is quickly progressing with new condominiums fronting the beach at first peak. A small bridge over the rivermouth is being constructed to connect the condos to the clubhouse/restaurant/bar. Hopefully, this won’t alter the flow of the rivermouth and thus the sandbar which shapes the powerful, wedging peaks this beach is known for. We’ll have to wait and see how it affects the waves. We’ve had an unusually dry July and all the meteorologists predict a moderate to strong El Nino this year. Stay tuned for news.

UPDATE: first peak still doing it’s thing. We had a great late season with a lot of fun days at Santana.

Very fortunate they were not able to divert the river for the project as they had planned. Read the story here – http://www.savethewaves.org/programs/view/40/1
